The technician-level position as a CNC Operator in the Mechanical Engineering Machine Shop operating a wide range of hand tools and equipment in the fabrication of aerospace-grade materials of prototype/development parts, assemblies supporting internal customers for research and development projects and contracted programs.
The position requires experience in the set up and operation of CNC Machines, knowledge of G&M codes and reading/interpreting mechanical drawings. Entry level or experienced with press, shear, band saw, and grinders operations. Manual machining experience preferred but not required
Requested tasks are verified and evaluated with the shop supervisor and test requester and scheduled in an environment where there are often competing and conflicting needs to be resolved. Job status is reported and reviewed as required with the supervisor. The selected candidate will report directly to the Supervisor of the Mechanical Engineering Machine Shop (MEMS) as part of the Structural & Environmental Lab inside of the Integration, Test & Evaluation department inside the Engineering and Technology organization for Lockheed Martin’s Missiles and Fire Control business area.

Candidate must have at least 3 years of Experience with the following:
• Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) programming
• Technical fabrication in metal fabrication, mechanical assembly, and composites fabrication while working in a teaming environment.
• Fabrication of basic steel and aluminum alloys using knee mill, band saw, manual lathe, basic hand-powered metal cutting.
• Windows-based MS Office-suite centered environment for communication, scheduling, data processing, and basic data transfer.
• High School diploma, or equivalent experience/combined education, with additional specialized technical training equivalent to a technical Associate degree and/or demonstrated ability to perform assigned technical tasks and 3 years or more of experience.
• Must be able to work a flex-schedule, overtime, evenings, weekends, etc., and the position will require candidate to work onsite, daily.
• Capable of deconflicting scheduling conflicts with customers and possess the ability to multi-task and prioritize projects as needed.
• Demonstrated sound writing and verbal communication skills.
• Able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.
Desired Skills:
• Knowledge of CAD/CAM - CATIA, Creo/Pro-E and G-code programing.
• GD&T, Mil-Spec Standards,
• Advanced working knowledge with various metals, layout, cutting, bending, forming.
• Working knowledge from concept design into product development.
